Range Guide

Dahlonega, Georgia

Range Guide ground corrections surveys done by Burk-Elder: Hale, Third revealed that a shaft runs underneath the old History Store (now replaced by a new business) towards the center of town and underneath the old courthouse. This shaft has been shut off because it is claimed to be dangerous. Dahlonega is still rich in precious metals and other minerals. The Crown Mountains are indeed a crown of gold. Elder did many ground correction surveys in this area that confirmed the satellite mapping data used to produce the map and many more precious metal maps of the Dahlonega Gold Belt.

The red lines are veins. The smaller red dots on the vein indicator mean that the data ended sharply, and likely indicates that the vein hits the surface there. If no small red dot appears on the ends of the vein indicators then the data faded out gradually. Large red dots alone are usually seen in water ways, but may be a vertical vein as seen from above. These indicate probable dredging and panning locations. The large red dots are usually at the center of vein intersections and is the "highest reading" in our map data.
